Ten pilgrims from Australia visited the mission house at Labuan Bajo in late June of this year. This pilgrimage was organised by Louis Lamuri (Sunnybank Parish) and Kay Corcoran (North Lakes Parish). Father Neville Yun, parish priest of Holy Family Parish, Indooroopilly accompanied them as the spiritual chaplain for the visit. The visit entailed being immersed in the prayerful life of the brothers at their monastery in their daily life as they attend to the needs of the poor and rejected. The pilgrims spent a good deal of time at the monastery’s apostolate which is a home for disabled and challenged boys and young men. The brothers permanently look after these residents offering them comfort, health care, protection and love. In addition, the pilgrims were blessed to experience the postulancy ceremony of around 20 young men accompanied by their families. This step of postulancy is their second vow in becoming fully professed brothers. In addition, the pilgrims climbed Madonna mountain at Labuan Bajo for Stations of the Cross, and visited several religious communities at Ruteng and in Labuan Bajo. An account of their visit was published by The Catholic Leader (26 August 2019).
