Br Nerlito Dioneda Mission Superior Labuan Bajo speaks to the sponsor children

In November 2016, all the sponsor children and their families came to the monastery to convey their greetings to their sponsor parents in Australia. Brother Nerlito, who was then Superior of the Mission, encouraged the children to be grateful for their sponsored education so that they in turn can assist others less fortunate.

At the end of our visit to the mission in November 2016, Br Nerlito Dioneda, Mission Superior of the Labuan Bajo mission conveyed his sincere thanks for the unwavering support that the mission receives from generous donors in Australia.

A song to honour fathers: from the aspirants in 2016 Labuan Bajo mission, Flores

This was a special song sung by the young aspirants at the Labuan Bajo mission in March 2106. The song is a traditional Indonesian song dedicated to all fathers.

Young aspirants assist with the music at the postulancy ceremony, Labuan Bajo Mission 2017

In charge of the music at the postulancy ceremony in June 2017 were the young aspirants. Listen as they sing ‘Shine Jesus shine‘. Plenty of action, including some fancy conducting.

Traditional Flores dance performed at postulancy ceremony, Labuan Bajo Mission 2017

In June 2017, we were privileged to attend the postulancy ceremony at the Labuan Bajo Mission during which the young aspirant brothers took their first vows and become postulants. From this they will travel to the novitiate in the Philippines to enter the next stage of being a novice brother. During the ceremony the young brothers performed a traditional Flores ceremonial dance. Quite entertaining and please enjoy!

Good morning from the children of Saburai, Timor Leste 2017

In December 2017 we visited the mission outreach in Saburai, Timor Leste. At that time we provided new school uniforms for 450 children. We received a very warm welcome and a wonderful good morning. The children are so beautiful and friendly.

Catechesis and feeding program at Saburai, Timor Leste – November 2018

Feeding programs and catechesis classes are provided every two weeks to 100 of the neediest children from Saburai Village. Br David organizes these and they are held under a make shift shelter built by the brothers on their land where their monastery will eventually be built. In this video the children are singing ‘I want to know if you love my Jesus‘,  so please enjoy.

More Catechesis – Labuan Bajo Mission (December 2018)

Catechesis and English classes are provided to local children every Sunday afternoon in the chapel’s all-purpose room at the Labuan Bajo Mission. Watch the children praying ‘Hail Mary’ in English and sing ‘Our Father’ in Bahasa.

Missionaries of the Poor distributing rosaries at Saburai, Timor Leste

Giving rosaries out to the people of Timor Leste is always a joy. In June 2019, the brothers of the Missionaries of the Poor distributed hand made rosaries to the people of Saburai, Timor Leste. These rosaries were made by parishioners of Holy family Parish, Indooroopilly , Brisbane, Australia.

Village Wheelchairs by Rotary in Timor Leste

The Gold Coast and Gladstone Rotary clubs in Queensland supply ‘village wheelchairs’ to third world countries. Thanks to these two Rotary clubs the brothers of the Missionaries of the Poor distributed almost 30 wheelchairs to lame and house bound residents in Maliana and Saburai (Timor Leste). This video, from June 2019, captures the delivery of a wheelchair to a young disabled girl in the mountain village of Saburai, Timor Leste.
