We finish up this year with a quick look at Fr Ho Lung’s visit to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where our endemic animals made quite an impression on the visitors (Fathers Ho Lung, Ambrose and Henry, and Wynton Williams). We even managed to grab a photo of Fr Ho Lung holding a koala. Earlier this year in April, Heru and Michele Santos visited the Missionaries of the Poor Mission in Labuan Bajo. Heru and Michele are from the Indonesian community in Upper Coomera on the Gold Coast. They heard of the mission through the Young Adult Ministry (YAM) Expo at St Stephens Cathedral which is held each August. YAM is part of the Catholic Youth Ministry Brisbane. During his visit to Brisbane Fr Richard Ho Lung travelled south and visited Marian Valley – Shrine of our Lady Help of Christians. The Shrine is situated south of Brisbane in the Gold Coast Hinterland at 2541 Beechmont Road, 10km from Canungra and is maintained by the Pauline Fathers of the Order of St Paul the First Hermit. The Valley is a place of solitude, for prayer and spiritual renewal. Marian Valley is a sacred place and was established as a place to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of our Lord. In March 2015, the new apostolate building constructed at the back of the Mission property in Labuan Bajo was opened for residents. The building is U-shaped with a chapel, kitchen, central under croft area, a dispensary clinic and residents’ quarters with bathroom facilities. On 10 July Fr Ho Lung with the two accompanying missionary priests were invited to concelebrate the morning mass at the Cathedral of St Stephen, Brisbane with His Grace Archbishop Mark Coleridge.

Visit by Fr Ho Lung to Ambrose Treacy College, Twigg St, Indooroopilly. On the morning of 14 July Fr Ho Lung addressed students of the middle school. Mr Conor Finn, Dean of Identity at the college, introduced Father, whose address was about the need and importance for every Christian to be grounded in service for the least of our brothers and sisters, just as Christ had served the poor and afflicted.
