Indonesian couple Heru and Michele Santos visit the Labuan Bajo Mission (April 2015)

Earlier this year in April, Heru and Michele Santos visited the Missionaries of the Poor Mission in Labuan Bajo. Heru and Michele are from the Indonesian community in Upper Coomera on the Gold Coast. They heard of the mission through the Young Adult Ministry (YAM) Expo at St Stephens Cathedral which is held each August. YAM is part of the Catholic Youth Ministry Brisbane. Very Rev Fr Richard Ho Lung in Australia Post 4

During his visit to Brisbane Fr Richard Ho Lung travelled south and visited Marian Valley – Shrine of our Lady Help of Christians. The Shrine is situated south of Brisbane in the Gold Coast Hinterland at 2541 Beechmont Road, 10km from Canungra and is maintained by the Pauline Fathers of the Order of St Paul the First Hermit. The Valley is a place of solitude, for prayer and spiritual renewal. Marian Valley is a sacred place and was established as a place to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of our Lord. The building and opening of the resident’s apostolate at Missionaries of the Poor, Labuan Bajo, Flores

In March 2015, the new apostolate building constructed at the back of the Mission property in Labuan Bajo was opened for residents. The building is U-shaped with a chapel, kitchen, central under croft area, a dispensary clinic and residents’ quarters with bathroom facilities. Very Rev Fr Richard Ho Lung in Australia, Post 3

On 10 July Fr Ho Lung with the two accompanying missionary priests were invited to concelebrate the morning mass at the Cathedral of St Stephen, Brisbane with His Grace Archbishop Mark Coleridge.

Visit by Fr Ho Lung to Ambrose Treacy College, Twigg St, Indooroopilly. On the morning of 14 July Fr Ho Lung addressed students of the middle school. Mr Conor Finn, Dean of Identity at the college, introduced Father, whose address was about the need and importance for every Christian to be grounded in service for the least of our brothers and sisters, just as Christ had served the poor and afflicted. Mission visit to Labuan Bajo: Trevor and Tina Lambkin (11-16 March 2015)

We were blessed to visit the mission in March this year (our apologies for the late posting). During this visit our task primarily was to deliver new sports clothing that was donated to the Mission by Ambrose Treacy College, Indooroopilly, Brisbane. Visit to Australia in July 2015 by Very Rev Fr Richard Ho Lung (Founder of Missionaries of the Poor) Post 1

Between the dates of 8 and 15 of July this year we were blessed with a visit to Brisbane by the Founder of Missionaries of the Poor, Very Rev Fr Richard Ho Lung MOP. He was accompanied by Fr Ambrose Kulandairaj MOP Secretary General, Fr Henry Lozano MOP Generalate and the Jamaican singer, Wynton Williams who sings many of Fr Ho Lung’s compositions. Mission visit: Chris and Maryann Argall, Peter, Dave, and Louis (13 – 21 September 2014)

Chris and Maryann Argall and Louis Lamuri were accompanied on their annual trip to the Indonesian mission, by Peter and Dave who were on their first visit to Missionaries of the Poor.

We carried with us medical supplies, bibles, and personal and office supplies for the brothers. For the children of the town we brought donations of clothing, school supplies, books and toys.
