On 25 July this year we bid farewell to Br Nerlito Dioneda Jnr., the last remaining pioneer brother of the Labuan Bajo MOP Mission, Flores. It was on the feast of Corpus Christi in June 2010 that the three pioneer brothers (Emmanuel, Nerlito and Ronel) landed in Labuan Bajo to set up their new MOP mission in Indonesia. The first superior of the mission was Br Emmanuel Kagaba up until and including 2015. After that Br Nerlito took over the helm until early this year when Br John Prisca became the new mission superior. Br Nerlito takes up a new post back in Jamaica at the mother house eight years now since his original departure.
Br Nerlito’s going away had two special guests who were visiting the Flores and Timor Leste missions at the time, Brother Superior General, Br Anil, and Br Rodel, the Secretary General, both from the mother house in Jamaica. Br Nerlito also officiated in his last postulancy ceremony at Labuan Bajo for several young aspirants moving up to be postulants just prior to them being transferred to the Philippines.
Sit back and walk memory lane as we look at some photos of Br Nerlito spanning the eight years from 2010 to this year. God bless you brother for all your hard work, evangelism, sleepless nights, endless days traversing Flores in buses and on motorcycles, and for showing such kindness to whoever you met.
May God keep you under his protective wing for your future life; a life you know too well, of never saying no to the poor. We will miss him!
Once again, God’s blessings to all
See you next time
Trevor and Tina
