Prior to Trevor’s arrival in Timor Leste in November 2018, we organised some small wooden crosses to be made here in Brisbane and transport them to Timor Leste to give out to households in Saburai Village. The crosses were generously supplied and crafted from ply wood by a manual arts teacher from a Catholic high school in Mt Gravatt, Brisbane. They were then painted by a wonderful parishioner from Holy Family Parish, Indooroopilly, using several coats of undercoat and topcoat, and then a couple of coats of lacquer to finish them off.
So with Br Elmer, we spent a day walking the village and handing out crosses. The crosses were truly beautiful and were so much appreciated by the people. The looks on their faces told the story. Thus, we will leave it with you to muse over the photos and see how the witness of Christ through his cross has enriched the lives of the very poor of Saburai Village.
See you next time…!!!!
With every blessing
Trevor and Tina
