Welcome back to another post for 2016. This time we are checking out how the Corpus Christi Monastery has progressed since the early days of 2012 and 2013, when we last published posts on the building and opening of the monastery, respectively. The monastery has had steady growth since 2012, and now is a spiritual place of peace, learning and meditation, with beautiful gardens. In addition to this, self-sufficiency is a key component for the brothers, aspirants and novices that live behind its walls. Growing fruits, vegetables and rearing livestock all attribute to being less reliant on outside means, but being more reliant on the providence of God through God’s natural resources. Moreover, the monastery land is also used to run English classes and feeding programs for the children of the town, and houses an apostolate at the back of the property where the brothers have child residents who are disabled, which they look after on a permanent basis. So as you can see, there is much happening at the Corpus Christi Monastery, Matahari Road, Cowang Dereng, Labuan Bajo.
