After a long period of three years since visiting the mission at Labuan Bajo in Flores due to Covid-19, we finally travelled to the mission in late November.

This is the first of several posts that will provide updates on the mission and the life of the brothers living in Labuan Bajo. We thought that in this post we would provide a summary of the special needs boys that live in the apostolate who the brothers permanently care for. Since our last post in 2019 which gave an update on the residents, there are now some new faces, and some faces that are no longer there because the boys’ families have taken them back home as now the home situations have changed and now the families feel that, since their boys have improved so much with the brothers, they have the confidence to care for their sons once more. There are now 21 residents in the apostolate which are provided round the clock care by the brothers for as long as….

This is the true charism of the Missionaries of the Poor, ”Joyful Service with Christ on the Cross”. These faces are of real people who, like us, are endowed with full dignity and worth.
